Anonymous asked: Hi. I am told to have a depression and the woman I visit to talk to said she can't help me anymore, that I need a doctor and she recommended some pills for depression. But to do this I need to bother my mom who is super worried already because of my sister. I hate to bring more trouble to the family and I'm scared of her reaction, that she would break down because she thinks I'm okay. I'm unsure if the treatment is worth her money and stress, I'd like to cope on my own. Future scares me.

Hey hunny. Well firstly I will get it out there that I am totally against pills for depression (or any other form of mental issue) This woman may feel she cannot help you anymore but it does not mean no one else can’t either. Maybe try seeking some other help elsewhere. I have never had antidepressants and I never plan on it either. By all means I am not saying that it’s the easy way. It’s very very hard, but it’s totally worth it when you look back and see you did it all on your own. I know of people who have been on pills and some have either gotten worse or just become numb. Personally I think depression shouldn’t be treated as an illness or disease but as an issue that needs psychological attention.

As for your mum, let her know gently. Don’t make a huge deal out of it if she is stressed with other things. Just tell her calmly that, yes you are feeling down but you are seeking help. You will need their support and as your mother, no matter how stressful and busy her life is she will provide you with that support because she loves you. So telling your mother is a must. But you can do it gently if you wish. She will understand.

If you ever need someone to talk to I am here. I can give you my skype if you’d like ♥
